The story is set in the 1930s, against a backdrop of profound political turmoil in Europe. It follows two young refugees living in poverty and exile who, driven by their magnetism, passion, and rebellious spirit, decide to challenge the fractures of the world around them.
In order to market their photographs and increase their value among the editors of the time, the pair devise a bold plan: they invent the enigmatic persona of a prestigious and fictional American photographer named “Robert Capa.” Under this shared pseudonym, the couple begins capturing the harsh social reality of their surroundings.
The story takes a decisive turn when they choose to actively join the fight against fascism during the Spanish Civil War. On the battlefield, armed only with their cameras, they immortalize moments that would become true historical icons of world photojournalism. The film viscerally intertwines the danger of the trenches, the birth of the legend that redefined documentary photography, and the tragic human cost of their courage and defiance.
