Coartadas tells the story of Miguel, the creator and owner of a company specializing in fabricating lies for clients who want to hide their extramarital activities or escape compromising situations.

The company is dedicated to creating alibis for people who want to cheat on their partners or have ready-made excuses to avoid certain situations. After completing one of his assignments, which involved driving a hearse, he accidentally runs over a young woman (Blanca). Nothing serious happens—he only breaks her finger. She is taken to the hospital, and that’s where they meet and are attracted to each other. They start seeing each other and fall in love.

She tells him she is a judge and that she hates liars and fraudsters, so Miguel lies to her and says he owns a funeral home. One day he meets her parents, and the surprise is that her father is one of Miguel’s clients—he hired him so he could cheat on his wife.
